A summary of Christianity

Christianity is an Abrahamic Monotheistic religion based on the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, better known as Jesus Christ. Christians believe that Jesus is the messiah or the Christ sent to be the Savior of the world. Christians believe Jesus to be God manifest in the flesh. Jesus is a divine person with two natures, one divine nature eternally begotten from the Father, and one human nature given to him by his Virgin Mother Mary. Jesus had 12 disciples, some well known ones being Peter, John, James, Andrew, and Thomas. Jesus described Peter as the rock on which he built his church, which is why Catholics believe Peter to be the first pope. Jesus preached repentance from sin, Jesus preached two great commandments, such as love God with all your heart soul and might, and to love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus taught that he is the way the truth and the life, and that no one can have salvation except through him. Jesus was betrayed by Judas, one of his disciples, and the Pharisees under Caiaphas, the high priest of the Pharisees,, wanted Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor of the Roman providence of Judaea, to have Jesus crucified. Christians believe that Jesus was crucified due to our sins, and that he came on earth to die for our sins, so that whoever accepts him as the Messiah and does his will may have eternal life. After Jesus‘s death, the church was born at Pentecost, and Jesus disciples, now with Paul the apostle, a convert to Christianity, went and preached the gospel in many areas. Christians Believe in the Trinity, which teachers that God is one in three persons, the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Ghost. The apostles were guided by the Holy Ghost(which is God) to write the sacred scriptures in the book known as the Holy Bible. There are many denominations. Catholics believe that salvation is by gods grace alone through faith and works. Catholics believe in seven sacraments, and that sacraments like baptism is necessary to enter the church to have salvation. Catholics believe in the church, sacred scripture, and sacred tradition, which is oral tradition from the apostles. Protestants on the other hand are those that trace their origins to Martin Luther, A German monk Who nailed 95 theses to a church door critical of Catholic practices, and later started his own movement called Protestantism. Protestants believe that salvation is by faith alone, and that works is not necessary. Protestants also believe in scripture alone as authority, not the church or tradition. Some Protestants, like the Baptist’s, reject Infant baptism for believers baptism. Then there are others like evangelicals, Pentecostals, etc. There are also the Eastern Orthodox, that came out of the great schism of 1054, when many eastern churches rejected the primacy of Peter, and also rejected the Filioque, The teaching that the Holy Spirit descends from the Father And the Son. Christianity has had The most impact on western civilization. One could argue that the Catholic Church, has highly helped to contribute to the building of western civilization. Christianity and its moral teachings have been a basis for law and morals in western nations. Christianity as I believe as a Christian gives faith and hope to people. Jesus Christ loves you, he loves you so much that he died for our sins. I encourage people to go to Christ, as they can have eternal life and be saved from their sins. Accept Jesus and getting Baptized is necessary for spiritual regeneration, cleansing of sin, and having a spiritual mark that you are in Christ’s Church. This may sound a little biased you can say, but Christianity is the one religion that I believe has contributed the most for society, and I couldn’t imagine a world without it. If you don’t want to be damed to hell for your sins, accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and be a member of his Universal Church today.
