He must expect you to use up a lot of ammo practicing to shoot the AK by instinct like a bow, because lining up those huge iron sights on a tiny target far away is certainly not as precise as an AR. The front sight may as well be a skyscraper being used to target a bug.

It takes practice buddy. But with practice you can as well shoot your ak as accurate as your ar.

@Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest: Maybe so, but ammo costs money and the AK 47 is a very old weapon. Though it is built tough, is somewhat of a blunt instrument compared to more refined modern rifles. Most modern rifles were made to out-perform the AK to defeat communist insurgents equipped with them around the world. When it's matter of life and death, there is no reason not to have more precise and newer equipment.

@Spectralwulf:

Modern ak and it’s variants are just as fine tuned as modern western rifles. Take a look at what Kalashnikov USA is putting out. They got some great modern takes on the ak platform. Also the ak is changing its round as well. Russia has changed from the 7.62 to the 5.45 round so its lighter and has better ballistics.

@Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest: I think the ideal battle rifle would be the modern variants of the M 14 like the SOCOM. Troops in Iraq and Afghanistan found the 5.56mm ammo unable to penetrate cinder blocks in ranged battles and had to break out old M 14s to get more range and power. Close quarters battle is so deadly that either range or heavy body armor is needed to keep you alive these days.

@Spectralwulf:

I don’t know much about that rifle so I can’t say wether or not I agree. Yes, the 5.56 is unable to penetrate some body armor like the 7.62 can. However I think the 5.45 is a faster round therefore can penetrate body armor. The 5.56 is vastly “superior” in close engagements where collateral damage (civilian casualties) is a serious concern. Basically, its better for civilians, police, private security, and military personal at close to mid-range engagements. Its a great all-round round with no major weaknesses.

The 5.45 is better for people who dont mind accidentally killing a lot of niggers in a village when their rounds go through the person they are shooting at then through the wall behind them. It is also slightly better for a very specific range that only occurs in less than 20% of firefights (500–600 meters). Half of firefights take place less than 300 meters, while ~30% take place at well over 800m

There are pros and cons to both bullets however I personally think the 5.45 is the better overall round. Remember, when the Russians invaded Afghanistan they were terrified of the 5.45 round.
