The province is called Drenthe, and it basically has two types of people: sand people and clay people, which refers to the soil they live on. The sand people are very friendly and easy-going, while the clay people are very rough and somewhat uncouth. The reason is that the sand people have very ancient communities. They have lived together for more than a thousand years. The clay people are mostly recent immigrants who were put to work on the clay soil to harvest peat for fuel. The difference between these two types of people is the level of mutual trust. The people who trust each other are friendly, while the people who don't trust each other become assholes in a flash.
