Thanksgiving dinner in Vietnam. (1967)
My father if he was born 5 years early would have likely have been one of these men. I met my fair share of men that fought in this war. I never met one that wanted to be there.
"Soldiers stand in a queue to enter a mess tent. They surround the tent to reach the entrance of the mess. A soldier wearing glasses is seen. All soldiers are carrying their guns on their shoulders. Few soldiers sit at a table in the tent surrounded by queue of soldiers. Some soldiers are joined by a chaplain at the table and pray before eating Thanksgiving dinner. Apples and other food stuff in plates lie on the table. After prayers soldiers start eating with smiles on their faces. Other soldiers are still in queue. Location: Vietnam. Date: November 27, 1969."
