WWII.
Germans were hailed as liberators by the local population of European countries.
This is a video compilation of the Germans entering the following areas:
Latvia.
Ukraine.
Russia.
Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg.
Poland.
Bulgaria and Macedonia.
Austria.
It's incredibly hard to find footage like this since most of it is either censored or totally scrubbed, especially footage of the German interaction with the local population and vice versa. There are video's out there with many more countries but finding it is another thing. If anyone knows of other footage please let me know.

Just to clarify Macedonia is not a separate country, it was and will be part of Bulgaria.
That claim would be a much deeper historical discussion of course. But before the second world war it was a separate nation, a republic under communist rule.

No they didn’t steal artwork they protected it precisely why it was meticulously documented ((Monuments Men)). They worked with the countries of Europe to protect their cultural items. Just like the Germans did in WW1. Ninety percent is still missing and I’m sure what wasn’t destroyed has been looted by the usual suspects.
It’s funny they were not so happy to see the AlLies in 1945.
